Piano Lessons in Johnson City TN for All Ages & Skill Levels

Great question! That really depends on your goals. If your goal is to simply have fun and get exposed to a fun musical environment but you're not trying to become Mozart in the first few lessons, then you aren't in an rush to purchase one. Some students are still discovering what they feel will be a good fit for them, so in those cases it is wise to hold off on a purchase until they feel to commit to piano specifically. Obviously the more access your student has to their instrument of choice, the more they can practice and develop. So if your goal is in fact to become like Mozart or play in school band or professionally, then purchasing a piano or keyboard would be a good step toward fulfilling those goals.

We take great care in matching each student with the instructor who best fits their age, experience level, personality, and goals. This thoughtful matching process helps students feel comfortable, supported, and motivated — which leads to better progress and a more enjoyable lesson experience.

Our group lessons are 1 hour long and meet once weekly. These groups consist of bands that have different instruments playing together, and others are groups of piano or guitar students learning together in a fun social setting. Group lessons are very popular among all ages and skill levels.

Private lessons are one-on-one lessons that last 30, 45 or 60-minute durations depending on the desire of the student or parent. For younger students, 30-minute private lessons are usually a good start. However, young students often love the 1-hour group lessons because of the social aspect. Feel free to ask us about your situation to get a recommendation for your student.

Like anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. We’ve seen that the more diligent the student is in practice, the quicker their skills progress. However, you also don’t want to over do it! 🙂

Ideally, a minimum of 15-20 minutes of practice 4-5 days a week would be a great start.

Your instructor will be able to help you assess how long your student should try to practice based on their age and skill level.

If your piano doesn’t have the full 88 keys, you will still be able to enjoy everything that piano lessons at Freedom Music Academy has to offer. No need to get hung up on the key count when there’s lots of learning fun to be done with what you do have! 🙂

At Freedom Music Academy, we offer a flat rate tuition plan of $125 that is charged on the first of every month. We never charge extra for a 5-week month giving our FMA family predictability in their budgeting.

MONTH-TO-MONTH COMMITMENT

We offer the flexibility of paying on a month-to-month basis with no long term commitment. We are open year round including summer with open enrollment throughout the year!
